Problems with pictures & family albums. I'm still cutting my teeth on Sims2 and this has been bothering me.
1) I have seen game photos taken from an angle above their heads. I have even accidentally "slipped" into that mode of view. Thing is I don't know how the hell I did it or how to toggle back to the normal straight-on view (I've been exiting the lot to do that). I love taking pictures but the straight on view really limits you when your Sims are in small rooms. So how do you do this?
2) As I said I love taking pictures, several of my family albums are 7, 8 or more pages. The problem I encountered was, while trying to edit my album down, that if I highlighted a picture in the middle of all those pages and tried to delete it, it wouldn't delete. Instead, the game deleted the last photo taken. Of course I didn't realize this until I totally delete several pictures of my sims' twins being born
Has this happened to anyone else? And what the hell is up with the strange lack of a filing system for them? I miss the way Sims1 organized them by families.
Oh, and I made my first video. 60 seconds of my sim sleeping in her bed dreaming at triple speed.....

I can't help much with the second problem, but I think I know what you did in the first situation.
In Buy/Build mode, in the lower left corner, there's a small icon with a square & an arrow pointing straight down into it. That's the 'Bird's eye view' icon. You probably clicked it, if it's lighted all you have to do is click it again and it should return to normal view for you.
As for the pictures, what I normally do (not that I do it much) is look at that folder with thumbnails or using a program to go through the whole folder like a slideshow until I find the picture I want to edit.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Chandria.
I'll have to try that, I've seen pictures others have take from that angle and it would be great for my photo stories. I guess the other problem might be something to for others to be aware of if they like creating stories too. What comes with the game just doesn't seem to work too well So I've started using XP's Picture & Fax viewer. But, unlike the original game there just isn't any real organization to how they are saved it seems. So I guess all the family stories are better created and left outside the game.
I love creating stories for my sims, I guess for me it's more the whole imagination thing as, in my mind, my families all have their stories, who they are and what they want out of life (I mean beyond what actually happens in the game). And I often take tons of pictures, a hold over from learning photography, you can take a whole roll of pictures to only get one or two that are "perfect".
This is where I find my pictures:
C:\Documents and Settings\me\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\N002(whatever one you want to look at)\Storytelling
I also found out that if you go into the settings while in the game you can change the size and quality of the pictures.
As to the videos, I've seen some really unbelievable ones on U-tube. But it's just totally beyond me
Thanks again Chandria

For the camera, pause the game and hit the TAB on the keyboard, it takes some playing around with but you can get amazing shots with it.

Dang, I didn't know about the Tab key. And here I've been taking up to 20 minutes to line up a shot.
can't help about the video, either. My processor is too slow for making videos. Although I did upgrade my video card and RAM... *rushes off to make a Sim video*

A day late as always
There is a way to set the numbers on the keypad for certain angles/shots. I can look up how to do it since I have forgotten but I found it very useful in some situations. Like I line up the perfect shot but realize I need to add more light or move something out of the background.
I think it is control and the # you wish to assign it to, like control 2.
I rarely use the ingame camera for pictures. I much prefer using the printscreen command along with another program to save them. (I will look up the name when I get home). This is also better for organization since I can select where I want the pics saved.
I then crop the pics to size and content, they turn out much better for me.

Aw Kimmy
I have to agree your method might be the best for organizing photo stories because of the disorganized way the game saves them. I have a really old print key/print screen program that still works with xp so I think I'm going to adopt this.
To start getting together a photo story I want to do I had to go through close to 700 pictures to find them all. While I was at it I sorted all of them into 7 folders for each of the families or story lines to save me from having to do that again.
But looking forward to see the information on camera angles, because that sounds like something I could really use. Thanks Kimmy
